Employee mental health in the workplace has become as important as providing CPR and first-aid training. The spotlight is on employers to evaluate the need, and provide adequate provision, for the mental wellbeing of their staff. This may include training staff in the awareness of mental health issues, and how to recognize signs and symptoms and provide support to someone who may be experiencing mental health issues. 


About This Course

Emergency First Response® has a half-day Mental Health Awareness (MHA) course. Becoming an EFR® MHA Instructor is an excellent business opportunity and the course can easily be bundled with other EFR courses. The EFR Mental Health Awareness course introduces both management and employees to mental-health issues, how to be aware of them and ways in which to provide support. 

To apply for this instructor rating you must be a renewed, Teaching status, EFR Instructor. Instructors must also have relevant training/experience in mental health, such as MHFA, or come from a clinical or occupational health background. Instructors must, therefore, have also completed a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Adult two-day course or show proof of equivalent qualifying certification/experience.   

When you are ready to become an EFR MHA Instructor, please submit a copy of your Mental Health competency certificate along with your instructor application.
