Your free time is limited – between work, family and every little thing in between, you have little time to sit down and pay attention to much else. PADI Club invites you to take some time out of your busy week to unwind and enjoy their virtual Speaker Series events. You can watch live and actually engage with guest speakers from around the dive industry or you can watch archived recordings at your own pace. Whatever your choice, PADI Club’s Speaker Series will have an interesting, hopefully educational conversation for you to enjoy.
If you have not attended one of Club’s recent Speaker Series events, you are missing out. They have had some amazing guests and conversations, featured films from inspiring and talented filmmakers and audiences have gained unique insight into some of the most compelling and inspiring work being done on behalf of our oceans.

Previous Speaker Series Events
After one recent Speaker Series event, Hannah D., a PADI Club member, said, “I always enjoy hearing about the various conservation efforts happening around the world in different communities. There is so much important work being done, and I think it’s really special to have the opportunity to hear directly from those individuals that are on the frontlines trying to protect and conserve our oceans and trying to educate others.”
Here’s some previous Speaker Seres events you may have missed:
Under Monterey Bay – If you aren’t a cold-water diver or California resident, you may not know much about the unique underwater ecosystem that is Monterey Bay. In this Speaker Series talk, we wanted to change that. Our host spoke with PhD student of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California Santa Cruz, Iris Flores, and filmmaker Zach Hellmuth about the beauty and diversity of the bay. Zach was kind enough to share his short film documenting the wonders of the kelp forest in Monterey Bay and the wildlife calling it home. If you want access to this short film, please reach out to [email protected]
Brent Durand – An avid Californian scuba diver, surfer, writer, photographer, media producer, and marketer, Brent has been diving since 1997 and working full time in the dive and underwater imaging industries since early 2013. His photography is widely published in print and advertising worldwide. He works full time as Brand Evangelist at SCUBAPRO and writes monthly for Scuba Diving magazine. Brent’s passion is creating unique images that convey raw ocean wilderness, most often while diving the rugged Northern California coast.
Natasha Marosi & Yannis Papastamatiou – This past summer, PADI AWARE® launched the funding phase of their Shark and Ray Census, a citizen science initiative aimed at collecting critical data to help protect our cartilaginous friends in waters all over the world. PADI Club hosted Natasha Marosi, Conservation Director for Beqa Adventure Divers and Founder of My Fiji Shark, and Yannis Papastamatiou, PhD, Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at the Institute of Environment at Florida International University, to talk about these misunderstood animals and their extraordinary impact on marine ecosystems.
