From a small waterfront shop in 1983 to becoming one of the world’s leading diver training centers, Pro Dive Cairns has spent over four decades shaping divers, instructors, and ocean advocates.
With a team of 55 local staff, a purpose-built PADI Five-Star Instructor Development Center, and three liveaboard vessels running Outer Reef trips year-round, their operation has become synonymous with quality and consistency.
PADI Asia Pacific Vice President Thomas Knedlik congratulated the team on this impressive achievement.

Originally founded to safely introduce more people to the underwater world, Pro Dive Cairns has expanded its mission to focus on marine conservation and climate awareness.
“Diver safety and high training standards are still at the core,” said Arek Msyzca, Pro Dive Cairns General Manager. “But we also want our students to become ocean stewards, divers who understand their impact and protect what they explore.”
He added, “Reaching 190,000 certifications is a tremendous achievement and a proud moment for our entire team. This milestone reflects our consistency, our passion for diving, and our focus on delivering high-quality training. We’re proud of the journey so far and even more excited about what lies ahead.”
This commitment to responsible diving has led to steps like powering vessels with eco-friendlier engines and streamlining processes to enhance both guest experience and sustainability.
Between 2023 and 2025, Pro Dive Cairns experienced a remarkable jump from 180,000 to 190,000 certifications, marking a 10,000-cert increase in just two years. This growth was fueled by several key operational improvements, including upgrades to their online booking and communication systems, which made it easier for students to plan and register in advance. The team also streamlined course scheduling and check-in processes, creating a more efficient and seamless experience from start to finish.
Strengthened partnerships with tourism operators helped capture more traveller interest, while consistently maintaining low instructor-to-student ratios ensured personalized attention and high-quality training for every diver. Lastly, regular in-house staff training, spot checks, and immediate student feedback help maintain quality even at scale.
To mark the 190,000 milestone, Pro Dive Cairns shared the celebration with its global community via social media and local media features. Alumni stay connected through a dedicated Facebook group, special offers, and regular updates.
