Sincere thanks to the many PADI Members, divers and all across the dive industry who came together to support the families who lost loved ones in the Conception fire. Together, the dive community raised more than $220,000  US through the Divers Alert Network fund for the families of the 34 divers who perished on 2 September in California’s Channel Islands.

Outpouring of support came from individuals and organizations across the dive community and around the world, including: American Academy of Underwater Sciences, California Diving News, Catalina Cylinders, DAN, Dolphin Divers of Sacramento, DUI, Historical Diving Society, NAUI, PADI, PSI/PCI, Scubapro, SDI, SSI, Undercurrent, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and Women Divers Hall of Fame.

“My greatest gratitude goes out to all across the dive community who came together to honor our brothers and sisters who lost their lives – to carry on their passion for scuba diving, to champion their love of the ocean, to amplify their sense of adventure and to carry on their legacy – through the support of their loved ones,” says Drew Richardson, President and CEO of PADI Worldwide.
